Shrimp Fishery 

Effective immediately, 2J committee has decided to lift the caps for 2J Harvesters SFA 6&7. 

Effective Immediately,  The 3L committee has decided to lift the caps for 3L Harvesters SFA6

Shrimp Fishery Extended !!!

Due to recent poor weather conditions DFO advises that the shrimp fishery in Shrimp Fishing Area 6, for inshore vessels based in division 3K-South, will not close on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, as previously advised. Landings will be monitored closely. 

Shrimp Fishery Closing

DFO advises that the shrimp fishery in Shrimp Fishing Area 6, for inshore vessels based in 3K-South, will close at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday October 8, 2008.

CAP INCREASE

 

There has been  Cap Increases for Harvesters in the following Areas.

2J Area 6 Cap 652,000 current Cap 722,000. 

3L Cap 230,000, current cap 265,000

3Ks original cap 430,000, increase effective 6:00am Sat. Sept 20, 2008 490,000
2J original cap 535,000 current cap 652,000
3Kn original  cap 520,000 current cap 680,000
3L original cap 200,000 current cap 230,000

June 21 Spring Trip Limit Extension

There has been another  extension of the spring trip limits for the Northern Shrimp Harvesters in Area 6 & 7. The Spring Trip Limit Schedule due to end June 14, 2008 has now been extended to June 21, 2008.

OPENINGS 

  • DFO advises that the Gulf Shrimp Fishery for the Western NL fleet will open at 6:00 p.m, Tuesday April 8, 2008.

  • DFO advises that the inshore shrimp fishery in Shrimp Fishing Area (SFA) 6, for vessels less than 100 feet, based in Division 2J, 3K-North, 3K-South, 3L and 4R, will open at 6:00 a.m Monday April 7, 2008

     

 

Fish Harvesters should note the following general management measures that are applicable to all shrimp harvesters.

  • An automatic deduction of 2% will be authorized for all landings in the Gulf Shrimp Fishery to take account of the white shrimp and small by-catches.

  • License conditions are in the mail for all fish harvesters who have already renewed.

  • Fish Harvesters are reminded that fishing is not permitted in the inshore crab fishing areas. Licenses must be renewed before fishing.
